Regardless, most people will fly to Bangkok (airport code BKK) as it is the central hub for SE Asia. The cost of the flight between BKK and Chaing Rai is about $70. The cost of the flight between BKK and Vientiane is about $150. A visa is required for travel in Laos. The cost of a visa is $50 for US Citizens and $60 for Canadian Citizens. We generally obtain visas at the Lao embassy in Washington DC in advance of the trip. Additionally immunizations are required as is health insurance. |
