It's a land of history and mystery.   Its hilltop towns, mountainside vinyards and quiet fishing villages, bely it's stormy past.  We cross the border with Slovenia on our bikes and continue south down the middle of the Istrian Peninsula before making our way to the islands of Cres and Krk.

Dear Robert,

The Spring tours were a blast.  The Corsica ride (the group is pictured above) received a blast in that we ran into some of the weirdest weather we have ever seen.  More on that below.

The 2008 schedule has been released.  We have added Croatia.  "Istria and the Aspyterdes Islands" is a 7 nite tour and includes riding that is similar to Corsica and Spain.  An added bonus:  there are truffles.

We are also announcing a "send a friend" program for the 2008 tours.  You can earn $100 credit for every friend who signs onto their first Far and Away tour in 2008.  Your friend also gets a $100 discount on their 2008 tour.

All the best,

Sailboat beachedA Crazy Day in Corsica

We had a great time in Corsica this last spring, but we also had one of wilder days on any tour to date.  EVERYONE on the tour was forced to "plan B".  It wasn't rain or cold or civil unrest.

On an otherwise nice day, gusty winds of up to 70 miles an hour blasted the island for about 24 hours on Day 2.  Corsica is a very beautiful and dramatic place, but it's also a place where being blown off the road could have severe consequences.  Never before had I seen riders huddled behind roadside rocks.  Duane, the biggest rider reported that he was "blown down".  After gamely completing the first half of the day's ride, the only sensible alternative for ALL...was a mandatory "Plan B", i.e., the train.

My hat is off to this group!...blown off.  Thanks for overcoming the challenges!

It was the right decision.  Unfortunately, that same day, two hikers perished in the wind as well as a beachgoer who was washed out to sea by a rogue wave.

2008 schedule imageThe 2008 Schedule is now out.

Tme flies by doesn't it?  It's hard to believe that we are talking about 2008 already.  We like a good thing so we are keeping the basic line up intact and have added a place that has had our eye for awhile....Croatia.  Even though it sits right under Slovenia (we meet in Ljubljana), it is a different place completely.  Slovenia has a distinctly Bavarian flavor to it, while Croatia seems more like Italy.  There are small fishing villages, truffles and lots of ancient stone fences.   We make our way down the Istrian Peninsula and then do a loop through Croatia's biggest two islands of Cres and Krk.  As usual, it's plenty challenging.

Send a Friend imageTake advantage of "Send a Friend":  your friend can save $100 and so can you.
Far and Away does not advertise and has very little in the way of overhead.  We prefer to put our money into our tours. Most of our customers have been on one of our tours previously or they have been referred by either an existing customer or a "friend of Far and Away". We certainly appreciate receiving all the referrals.  It allows us to grow, add new tours and keep our prices as low as possible.

For 2008, you will receive $100 credit for each of your friends that signs on to their first tour.  Likewise, your friend gets a discount of $100 on their first tour for being referred.  Its' win-win for everyone.

There is no limit other than available space on the tours.  Send 5 friends and you get $500 worth of credit.
