Dear Robert,
A belated Happy New Year!
I hope you and those close to you have a prosperous, healthy and happy 2008!
"Tour de Indochine" has been added to the schedule. It combines the best of Vietnam and Laos. It starts in Hanoi and ends in Vientiane. It runs from 11/17/08 thru 12/5/08. If it is too long for your schedule, it is possible to join/depart in several spots.
Chantal and I are headed to Kerala, India shortly for an independent 3 week bike tour. India has over 15% or the world's population...over a billion people. That's reason enough to check it out.
I plan to make posts to the blog during the India trip (and Laos after). If you'd like to follow along, you can set up an "RSS" feed (see instructions below).
I have also posted to the blog Don Rhatigan's (Laos, 2006) report on his "deja vu" return visit to Japan after 40 plus years. I especially like the "before" and "after" pictures. I included a "before and after" of Don himself below.
You say "you've been there and done that"? Prove it, baby! We've got a test for you. All the best,

PS - Want the blog feed? Click on the the guy above with the telephone pole growing out of his head (to get to the blog) and then click on the feed symbol. You can undo it anytime.

"Tour de Indochine"
"Tour de Indochine" has been added to the schedule. We spend a couple nights in Hanoi and then take the overnight train to Lao Cai on the Chinese border. The tour takes us to Sapa, the Tram Ton Pass, Dien Bien Phu, Luang Prabang and Vientiane as well as a host of other towns. We enter Laos outside of Dien Bien Phu and ride thru the remote Northeast.
If
you don't have time for the entire tour, you can opt for a segment. You should be able to meet us in Dien Bien Phu, Odomxay, or Luang Prabang. The tour ends with a couple nights in Vientiane.
This tour is not for the weak or faint of heart. No, you don't have to eat any weird stuff, but stamina and some "Indiana Jones traits" will serve potential participants well.

Japan....40 plus years later.
Don Rhatigan, (Laos-2006), recently journeyed to Japan (along with Mike Braden also Laos- 2006) to bike and revisit some of his past haunts. Only this time Don was on his Trek 520 instead of the Honda 250 you see here. Most people don't give too much thought to biking in Japan, but Don maintains that is a mistake. Here the story of his deja-vu visit. The only thing I have edited is the pics so you can get the full "then and now" perspective.

"Been There! Done That!"
Oh yeah? Not so fast. See how many places you've been to vs. other readers of this newsletter. These are some great pics that will test your "worldliness". So....click on the pic or the link to go to the F&A "been there, done that" page and then take stock of your carry over vacation days. We have tours in only a few of these places.
