Who's Going

Dear Robert,

Tour d' Indochine starts February 10, 2010.  It's a challenging 18- night, 700 mile tour beginning in Hanoi and ending in Vientiane.

From now until November 15 (based on availability), we are doubling our standard referral credit for Indochine.  Refer any new customer to Tour d' Indochine and you get $200 off any future tour and your referral gets $200 off Indochine.  No limit.  Refer 3 people, you get $600 (just have them mention your name).

In November and December, we are in India and then Laos.  Follow along
with us on-line!  See all the ways to do it below.

Ride safe and I'll be back in December.

Best,

Bob Thompson

Tour d' Indochine

Tram Ton Pass

It is our biggest, baddest tour.  It begins in Hanoi, takes us all the way up to Sapa, nearly within shouting distance of China, and then past the Tonkinese Alps,  Mount Fansipan, Tram Ton Pass and on to Dien Bien Phu.  We cross into Laos, taking small boats for a day on the Nam Ou River, before heading south through Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane with a bunch of stops in between.  This 700 mile, 18-night tour combines the best of Vietnam and Laos.

The suitability of this tour for you depends on factors well beyond your age or physical condition (the most senior person to do this tour was well into their 70's).  More than any other tour on the Far and Away schedule, Indochine requires strength of mind, fortitude and a "go with the flow" attitude.  (Team Fun:  Isn't it time for a reunion?!)

There probably is no better way to get a sense of this one than to watch Tour d' Indochine - The Movie.

Cheap Thrills
Facebook

During the tours, we attempt to make daily posts to the blog.  It's not always possible, but we try.

The posts are easy to find.  You can go to The Far and Away Website, The F&A Blog, Twitter, Facebook, the F&A Resource Pages (Netvibes), or use your iPhone.  You can also just "google" Far and Away Cycling.  All these sources will have the same tour posts.  Just pick the one you like the most.  The images at the top left will take you to each.

While we are out there biking, let us hear back from you!  There is nothing better than to know that someone, somewhere has decided to follow along and see what is happening.  It's not exactly a National Geographic special, but we do have our moments.  Where else are you going to see someone you know bathing in a river with Lao villagers or being analyzed by a 5'1", painted Indian Shaman or dining on truffles, sanglier, duck blood soup, fried cicadas and much, much more.
