Fall Tours

"The Beast" gets a Bath and "No rain in Spain"
Brian

The intrepid riders on these tours will know what I'm talking about.

"The Beast" in Corsica is challenge enough in good weather (which we had for most of the week) but when torrential downpours hit, well, it was nice to have a van. Corsica was blasted with a torrential downpour the day we went to Bonifacio. It is a VERY eery feeling to ride down an asphalt road that sounds hollow underneath because whatever was down there was washed away.....

Spain was sun, sun and more sun. That's not a first but there were plenty of firsts on these two tours....the first couple to ride it on a tandem; first time anyone rode the Beast and Spain tours back to back, first time for a gigantic town Fair (gee, they start those kids on bulls awfully young), first group to miss the train, first group to miss the bus (yeah, the same group), first couple to have their missing luggage delivered in three separate installments, first time we all donned "sympathy bandages"......

It's great to have people on the tours who can "go with the flow" and are "game" for whatever happens.

Grand Prize to Brian Towns

First to Complete all The Tours
Rudi in Slovenia

Here is another first. Brian Towns of Baltimore is the FIRST person to complete EVERY Far and Away Tour offered. That's no small accomplishment given that Far and Away has not been around that long and every tour offered is "far away" and in challenging (but beautiful) terrain.

Brian selected "Laos on the house" for his prize. When asked "why go back to Laos?", Brian responded "It's a fascinating place; a throwback to a time when the world was a different place. I want to return before that changes."

Brian's not the only one. Graeme Watkins of Australia is also returning for the second year in a row.

Locked and Loaded for Laos

Ready or not!
Corsica

Twelve people have their visas in hand and are headed to mysterious and magical Laos in November: two Canadians, four people from the West Coast, 3 from the East Coast, two Midwesterners and one Aussie. This group is spread out all over! Some people are already there. Some people are coming from Viet Nam and some people are going to Viet Nam afterwards. Some may never return home......some may not have a home.

I have always said this one is for a different breed!

F & A Jerseys!!!

Taking Orders Now
Laos Kasi

Many customers have indicated that they would be interested in "tour jerseys".

If you'd like a Far and Away "White Villages" Jersey, please e-mail me by November 10 so I can order one for you. Cost is $60 for the short sleeve jersey and $55 for the sleeveless one. They both have full hidden zips. I expect them to be available around year end.

Jerseys for Corsica, Slovenia and Laos are in the planning stages.

Please visit the F&A Store for size info.

"Send a Friend" is going....going.....

Save $100 per Friend thru December 31, 2006

Thru December 31, 2006, CUSTOMERS (i.e., anyone who has been on or is signed up for a tour) will receive 100 bucks for EVERY new person they refer (i.e., a person who has not yet been on a tour) who makes a deposit on a Spring 2007 tour. Just send me a note so I know who it is. You get a $100 credit posted to your account that you may use as soon as your "friend" completes payment for their tour. Use it to pay for your own tour, buy some Far and Away stuff from the store or request a "gift certificate".
