The Wobbling Sprocket

Signed Up: Robin and Annette H (Bellingham WA) for Croatia

by on Jan.18, 2012, under Croatia Sept 8 2012

Robin and Annette are in!  They are dovetailing our tour with a Rick Steves tour that happens to start in the same hotel in Ljubljana.  What a great idea!

Robin and Annette are troopers.  They were on our Lao tour way back in February, 2008.  We’ve stayed in touch ever since.  They always have had an active interest in Big Brother Mouse and other worthy causes.

Robin and Annette have some really nice Rodriquez travel bikes too.  You don’t see many of those.

It’s great to have you on board, guys!  It’s been way too long.

****

PS- We’ve met Rick’s group at the Pri Mraku in Ljubljana several times.  We have never seen Rick himself in LJU, but we have run into him (figuratively) in Arco de la Frontera, Spain.  He signed a napkin for us.

This is one of Robin and Annette's pics from back then. I forgot all about it. We were lucky enough to run into an Elephant Parade in Luang Prabang that year.

I can tell this wasn't in Laos.

Signed up: Shawn V (Christiansburg, VA) for Sikkim

by on Jan.03, 2012, under Sikkim - Oct 17, 2012

Shawn likes challenges.

There is absolutely no doubt about that.  Of our tours, he has done the most challenging:  “The Beast” in Corsica and Tour d’Indochine in SE Asia (Vietnam and Laos).  In between those he is off doing other people’s most challenging stuff:  Gran Fondo’s, overseas trips to New Zealand, tours doing nothing but the big climbs of Europe.  You get the idea.

Sikkim will be right up his alley.  The Last Shangri-La is a climber’s paradise.

If Shawn looks serious about his riding, there is a reason for it. He is! He came in at 5 hrs 53 min in the Mountains of Misery. If you have done that ride you know what that means.

Here's Shawn near the Col de Bavella on our own tour of misery (and hypothermia), Le Beast in Corsica. It was worth it though. Corsica is a wonderful place to ride.

And here is Shawn on Tour d'Indochine. Piece of cake!

Just to bring back some memories. Here we are with Chez Maddy. What a great place. If you get to Corsica definitely check her place out. She's the one in the hat. :-)

Signed up: Joe H (Chicago, IL) for Laos

by on Dec.21, 2011, under Laos - Nov 3, 2012

Joe might be able to help put some Lao establishments we visit on the Yelp map.  Joe gets out a lot and it is not unusual for him to give  the places he visits  a “Yelp”.   For some of the  places we visit in Laos, that would be more exposure than they have ever had.

Joe’s real expertise  is in health care information systems.

Joe is coming with his Dad, Mike.  Sharing a bike tour with another generation is something that few people have the pleasure of doing.  We are thrilled they are both coming.

It is great that Joe is going to join us. Joe is no stranger to International travel. This photo was taken in Europe somewhere.
