Dec 8 Suvarnabhumi (BKK) Airport

by on Dec.07, 2008, under Indochine - Nov 17, 2008

Cooling my jets in the BKK airport waiting for my flight to Hong Kong. The airport seems no worse for having been occupied by protestors for 8 days. There is some extra security on the way in, but it is not a big deal.

It has been a great couple of tours in India and Asia, but I am very happy to be heading back to the US. I have an around the world ticket, which makes it is easier to get back. I am glad I did that. Backtracking thru India would be tough. As it is, I go to Hong Kong and then LA and then DC. I think actually good to break up the flying a little.

I board for Hong Kong in about an hour.

Dec 6 Vientiane

by on Dec.06, 2008, under Indochine - Nov 17, 2008

Everyone starting to scatter today. Clive and Wilma are headed back to Luang Prabang and then going upriver to Chaing Khong and then over to Chaing Mai.

Shawn and Richie will leave in a couple days for theUSA by way of Hanoi.

Dan and Mark are going to Angor Wat in Cambodia before going home.

Wayne going to Hong Kong before heading back to Calgary.

Joan going to West Coast of the US for a few days before going back to VA.

Graeme is going to Bangkok and then home by way of Singapore.

Jose back to Tokyo by way of Hanoi.

I go to Bangkok tomorrow to catch a flight for Arlington VA the next day.

I have some vids….in no particular order but I think I can describe them ok….

(1) There was a 3 day long Hmong party going all along the road to Kiu Kacham. The girls would get all dressed up. Boys and girls were constantly playing a game throwing and catching oranges between the girls on one side and the boys on the other. When the ball is dropped, one gets kissed on the cheek. I saw a lot of drops but never any kissing.

(2) This goes way back to Bangkok on the way in. releases from the dam flooded the area around the Riverview for blocks every day.

(3) The one after is a guy using his bike to strip corn off the cob with a bike. I loved that!

(4) Clive dancing with the restaurant owner/chef lady in Kiu Kacham.

(5) Mr Jose doing the swing thing on the kayak run into Vang Vieng. Mr Jose was game for everything.
