Permet, Albania

Another spectacular day of biking with big mountains that line the southern Albania-Greece border.

We did not quite ride all the way to Permet.  We stopped at a small inn and then donned our bathing suits and rode our bikes another 4k to some hot springs.

The springs weren’t actually all that hot.  They were more like luke warm, but it was still nice to soak in the spectacular surroundings.

After the springs, there was still time for me to ride my bike the 8k into Permet and have a look around. It was pretty quiet.  I sat at a cafe and just watched people walk by.  Nobody wears bright colors in Albania.  It is all dark.   I had a white cycling coat with the Alpe d’Huez devil guy on the front.  It wasn’t difficult for any of the locals to figure out, I was from out of town.   They were plenty nice though.

The weather was perfect for cycling. This is Jackie M. of Woman Tours.

There were times when I had some difficulty making progress...I stopped too often to take photos.

One walked over this 14th century bridge to get to the hot springs. I couldn't believe this thing was still standing!
